COVER DEMOS
Since I'm bored and have so much spare time, I'm going to
also release a cover album called "Stealing The Covers". Although my
show is straight acoustic, it will have piano, light percussion and maybe
light strings. We'll see how creative I want to be. Anyhoo,
here's a demo track of "Brilliant Disguise" by the
boss. I have to redo the guitar track. I used my 12-string and
now I don't like it.
ORIGINAL DEMOS ARE AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE!
Arrow down for
the BACK STORY - MP3's, SONG LISTS & CD's COMING SOON!!! - I have 4
originals demo'd right now and will need to arrange and rerecord them for a
CD, maybe adding a 5th (of tequila! LOL). I will be putting some
covers on the album, as well. That way, if you buy it, you won't have
to only listen to my songs.

BACK STORY

The Pool Boys, Summer 2005

Bob with The Pool Boys, February 2006

Bob sitting in with
The Bugs Beddow Band, Summer
2007 |
Music has always been a big part in my life.
As long as I can remember, I was singing or trying to be a rock star in some
way, shape or form.
In high school, Rob Teachout, Paul Wilga, Jerry and
Terry Emerick started a rock band called Rhapsody. They wanted a singer, so
they asked me to try out. I wasn't the greatest, but I wasn't the worst, so
I got the job. Rhapsody turned into Exhibit A, and the rest is distorted
history. After high school, I pretty much gave up on actually trying to be
a musician, but never forgot about it.
In the late 90's, I had some money,
so I started accumulating toys and doing some studio projects. In 2002, I
saw a guy playing guitar and singing at a party. I thought to myself, "Geez,
he's not very good...hell, I could do that!" Hence, I bought some more toys
and started rehearsing in the basement. I played for friends around
campfires and parties. When I lost my job in 2003, I set my gear up in the
living room. This was not so good for marital relations.
When we moved to
Michigan in 2004, I made a demo video at a "Relay For Life" event. I then
took that a local bar called O'Grady's and asked if I could play there. The
rest is more distorted history. Pretty soon, I was playing two and three
times a week at local pubs and dinner clubs. I hooked up with Sal Agnello
and started a project called The Pool Boys. We added Allen Bondar for
a bit and had a great time. We had a successful two year
run and really did pretty well. Throat problems and a growing family caused
me to leave the road. So, I went back to performing locally as a solo act.
It was much easier on my throat and my family.
I use Shure
microphones, Martin, Epiphone, Schecter, Seagull, & Yamaha guitars, Digitech & Alesis
Processors, Behringer, JBL & Roland sound reinforcement.

DEMOS /
RECORDING UPDATE
1/13 -
Recording is going pretty well. I'm working with Jake Allen and Al Bondar at Dharma Records in
Grayling. We've started recording "Goodbye to Paradise" and "Karma
Now" this weekend. Of my stuff, we'll probably at least do "DFR/Stay"
and "You'll See", as well. We have plans to bring in some great
songwriters, as well. This is turning into more of a project than I
originally intend, but with the talent involved, I'm very excited!
3/28
- Well, I didn't think it'd take this long! Anyhoo,"Goodbye" is in the
can. "Karma", "Stay" and "You'll See" are done except vocals.
We're going to try to wrap those up this weekend. Hopefully, we'll
have finished mixes of everything by the end of the day Saturday. Got
a couple more to do. Yikes, maybe this will be done by summer!
4/22
- Got another in the can this past weekend. A friend of mine from long
ago, Marco Lollio, allowed me to record one of his tunes. He's an
incredible singer that led one of the best bands in Detroit through the late
90's, Bridge. Anywho, we took a largely acoustic song, added some
piano, drums, slide guitar (courtesy of Donny Hartman) and a ton of backing
vocals and WOW. This thing has really taken shape. A rough won't
make to the site, because there really is none. We did everything in
about 10-12 hours and have everything done, so there's nothing to take out.
You'll have to wait for the album on this one! Think - Seger on Like A
Rock.
5/27
- Well, we have 5 songs mixed and ready to go. Working on some other
stuff. Hopefully, we'll have this thing done around Xmas. Marco
digs the cover tune, which is cool. We have lots of work coming!
Here are some
EXTREMELY rough originals. They are the demo tracks. They're
only to get the ideas from my head to tape. Please, feel free to
comment on them. I think you'll have some fun hearing songs as they go
from rough to finish.
DFR/Stay - A song about the life and death of Dan Reed, a great
friend who passed in 1998 due to a brain tumor.
UPDATE -
recording this right now. Man, it sounds incredible. I actually
broke down doing the vocals. Here's a rough mix with a scratch vocal -
DFR Scratch
Karma Now - I'm asking for something good to
happen to me. Is that so wrong?!
UPDATE -
Almost everything is in the can for this, just waiting on post.
Added a cool bridge to round it out. Here's a rough mix with a scratch
Vocal - Karma Now
You'll See - A tune about redemption.
Rob Teachout wrote the music and the rest of Exhibit A contributed to the
lyrics.
Update - Working on the melody and vox. Lots done, just trying to nail
it down - Santana meets a dork from Northern Michigan! Here's a rough
mix with a scratch vocal - You'll
